Change of location/lateral entry
Bachelor programs of the WiSo Faculty
If you would like to apply for a higher semester in one of the WiSo Bachelor's degree programs, you must submit a certificate of classification as a transfer student or a lateral entry student to the Registrar's Office /International Office as part of your application.
You will be classified as a transfer student if you continue your studies in the identical degree program.
You will be classified as a lateral entry student if your previous degree program and your desired degree program are not identical programs of study.
If you are classified as a lateral entrant, in addition to this certificate you must also submit a certificate to the Registrar's Office/International Office stating the extent to which subject semesters can be recognized for you in the event of a change, the so-called subject semester classification.
If you are classified as a transfer student, you do not need a semester classification. You can apply for the next higher semester at the Registrar's Office /International Office by presenting the certificate being a transfer student.
The application for a certificate of change of location or lateral entry must be received in full by the Examination Office no later than four weeks before the application deadline for the higher semester of the Student Secretariat/International Office. In the case of applications submitted late, completion by the end of the application deadlines of the Student Secretariat/International Office cannot be guaranteed. Please note that the issuance of a subject semester classification takes significantly more time and must therefore be applied for much earlier.
You apply for the transfer or lateral entry certificate using this form. Applications submitted in any other form cannot be processed and will be returned unprocessed. The application must be accompanied by the most recent academic transcript from the previous program of study. This certificate must indicate the previous degree program, the degree objective (e.g. Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, etc.) and the current semesters.
The application can be submitted together with the certificate of study in digital form via the contact form of the WiSo Student Service Point or by mail. If you assume that you will be classified as a lateral entrant and therefore have to apply for a subject semester classification, the application for change of location/cross-entry can also be submitted digitally together with the documents required for the subject semester classification via the WiSo Credit Center. All information on this can be found here.
The second page of the form will be returned to you by mail after processing. This must be submitted there as part of your application for a higher semester within the deadlines set by the Student Secretariat/International Office.
