As a student of the WiSo Faculty, you benefit from an approach that is based on theory and methods, combining both research and teaching with practical elements. The teaching at our faculty has benefited from many years of experience in working with companies and visiting lecturers from different professional fields. Many of the visiting lecturers are professionals and managers who bring important industry experience to the programmes, resulting in sector-specific, up-to-date programme content for our students. This ensures that our programmes reflect the real world and that they thus combine the practical and the theoretical, whilst also promoting knowledge-sharing between you the student and companies.
The Deutscher Aktienindex (“DAX” for short) is a stock index that represents 30 of the most liquid German companies. Many of the DAX30 board members are former students of the University of Cologne. This underlines the specialist and managerial skills of our graduates. According to the latest ranking by the magazine “Wirtschaftswoche”, HR managers prefer graduates from the University of Cologne. Our faculty occupies second place in the current ranking. The WiSo faculty receives a top-ranking position in Germany in the "Careers Rank" section of the Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking 2016. This ranking considers the career status of the alumni three years after graduation. Progression is measured according to the level of seniority and the size of the respective company.
The WiSo Faculty is the only German member of the CEMS (The Global Alliance in Management Education) network and offers the Master in International Management (CEMS MIM) in collaboration with other members. All our study programmes have a high percentage of English-taught modules. Almost all of our master programs can be studied totally in English. Intercultural skills are taught in an international environment at the campus and in an international semester at one of more than 130 partner universities. As the University of Cologne is state-funded, there are no tuition fees, just a biannual “social contribution fee” of slightly more than 250 euros, which includes the “semester ticket” for public transport throughout North Rhine-Westphalia. So, with us, you can invest in an excellent education – and your future – without paying a fortune.
The inter-, multi- and trans-disciplinary approach of the WiSo Faculty is deeply embedded in all our programmes. The wide range of subjects offers every student the opportunity to define their career direction. The international and intercultural environment is ideal for your professional and personal development.
