Verification requests refer to information requests, which are addressed from a third party to the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne in order to confirm academic degrees.
According to data protection terminology, the provision of information is considered the ‘transmission of personal data’. Such transmission is only allowed in compliance with strict legal requirements.

Please therefore attach the following documents to your request (Please note that only documents in PDF format can be opened and edited):

• Copy/scan of the identity card or the passport of the respective candidate, which contains the signature, the full name (if applicable, birth names) as well as the date of birth of the candidate
   
• An authorisation signed in writing by the candidate (this authorisation must contain the name of the requesting agency as well as an explicit authorisation that the requested office (University of Cologne) is authorised to release the data. Under no circumstances is it sufficient if the authorisation only allows the requesting agency to access the data. Please feel free to use this template: Verification of academic degrees (pdf).

Please note that the processing of these requests can take several weeks. For this reason, please refrain from following up your request within the first three weeks after submitting the documents.
