WiSo Graduation Ceremony
The WiSo Faculty has a long-standing tradition of handing over the certificates to our Bachelor's and Master's graduates at a festive graduation ceremony once a semester. Get your certificate and join us to celebrate with your fellow graduates, your families and friends, faculty members and invited guests. A varied programme will mark this special occasion. The legendary after-show party hosted by the WiSo student body in the evening will be the grand finale - a day you won't soon forget!
The handover of certificates for Bachelor's and Master's degrees for the summer 2025 semester will take place on
28 June in the Auditorium of the University of Cologne's main building.
To participate in the graduation ceremony in the summer semester, final grades must be submitted by 30 May 2025. Students whose final grades are submitted after this deadline are welcome to attend the next handover of certificates in the winter 2025/26 semester. The date in January 2026 will be announced here shortly.
If you are unable to attend the graduation ceremony, you can collect your certificates from our WiSSPo afterwards. Alternatively, you can request to have your certificate sent to you by post. Further information and how to obtain your Transcript of Records even in advance of the graduation ceremony provides the website of the WiSo Examination Office.
- The handover of certificates for Bachelor's degrees will begin at 2.30 PM.
- The handover of certificates for Master's degrees will begin at 5.30 PM.
- Each ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.
- Immediately after both graduation ceremonies, the WiSo student body organises a celebratory champagne reception.
- In the evening it's time for the legendary after-show party of the WiSo student body. Additional details are available further down on this page.
The graduation ceremony is hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne. The highlight of the graduation ceremony is the handover of certificates. These are handed over personally to our graduates on stage by the the professors of the WiSo Faculty. Alongside welcome addresses from the Dean and the WiSo student body, the programme features a graduation speech, an alumni address, and the presentation of the Albertus Magnus Teaching Award and the Junior Teaching Award. From summer 2025 onwards, exceptional theses in the field of ethics and responsibility will also be recognised with the WiSo Ethics Awards.

Celebrate together: The WiSo Faculty's graduation ceremony is planned and carried out each year in close cooperation with the WiSo student body. The student representatives take on many important responsibilities, such as managing ticket distribution, organising the champagne reception after the official ceremony and, of course, the legendary after-show party in the evening.
The student body is also actively involved in all preparations, working closely with the faculty’s event team to coordinate the schedule and ensure that all information about the celebration reaches you on time. They are also responsible for distributing tickets for both the graduation ceremony and the after-show party.
We value this creative and dedicated collaboration highly and look forward to many more unforgettable celebrations. Thanks to this teamwork, the graduation ceremony becomes a true highlight for all graduates and their guests at the end of their studies.
