Partner: Maastricht University

Maastricht University has a strong international orientation, reflected in its international student body and extensive international research. Its educational approach and learning methods are based on the principle of Problem-Based Learning (PBL).

Courses

The courses offered at the two universities complement each other very well, providing a wide range of topics. The double degree is integrated into the regular master's programmes. It incorporates courses from both and is based on recognition of credit points.

During your first year, you will study courses at Maastricht University. You can choose between a quantitative and a qualitative track and different specialisation tracks, depending on your individual interest. You may consult the curriculum at Maastricht website where you will find detailed infomation on the different tracks on offer including course descriptions.

During your second year, you will study a methods course complementary to the track chosen during your first year: If you opted for the qualitative track in Maastricht, you will now follow a course on quantitative methods in Cologne, or vice versa. You find the module names of the other courses in the study plan above. To see module descriptions, you can access the module catalogue. In each module, there are usually several different seminars on offer. To get an impression of the seminars on offer in the current academic year, you may take a look at the campus management system KLIPS  and click on the respective module.

Part of the study programme is to write a master's thesis, which you will start developing during your first year and work on during your second year of studies.
