Career Prospect Economics

In our Career Tuesday in cooperation with WiSo-Alumni, you will find out how former economics graduates got into professional life, which challenges they have mastered and which further professional perspectives have opened up on the way there. You will be shown perspectives from the areas of microsimulation, econometrics, change management, analytics and data science and have the opportunity to network so that you can better orientate yourself on your career path.

 

Our Speaker/ Alumni

Chiara Anselmetti (Frontier Economics Limited):

Chiara Anselmetti works as a consultant in the areas of energy and competition economics at Frontier Economics, a microeconomic consulting firm. She has extensive project experience in the energy sector, particularly in the areas of electricity and hydrogen markets, on topics such as comprehensive market analysis and modeling as well as policy formation (including regulation, market design). In the area of ​​competition economics, she is involved in the economic support of various antitrust damages proceedings. She herself studied at the University of Cologne and received her master's degree there in 2021.

 

Dr. Marcus Melzer is an economist who, since 2017, has been primarily responsible for regulatory impact assessments within the federal government’s Better Regulation Service Center at the German Federal Statistical Office. His work has focused on the legislative portfolios of the Federal Ministries of Justice and the Interior, and he has contributed to projects aimed at modernizing public administration.

He was also seconded to the Federal Court of Audit for six months, where he assessed the efficiency and compliance of an administrative process within a federal authority. His academic journey began with studying economics at the University of Konstanz.

After initially pursuing a PhD in theoretical economics at the universities of Mainz and Tübingen, which he did not complete, he transferred to the University of Cologne. There, he studied business education and ultimately earned a doctorate in science studies, focusing on an empirical research project.

Lisa Dickmanns (AXA Konzern AG)

Lisa Dickmanns, Head of Digital & Direct Sales at AXA Germany, is an experienced leader in the insurance industry. With premium revenues of 12 billion euros (2023) and approximately 8,000 employees, AXA is one of the largest primary insurers in Germany.After studying economics in Bonn and Hamburg, Lisa spent five years working as a research associate in microeconomics at the University of Cologne before moving into AXA's strategy department.Her economic mindset continues to shape her approach to work, and she values hiring employees with a similar background.
