Big stage for the best ideas

Save the Grain and RheinSharing win the the fourth round of the Startup Your Idea Contest. A sold-out house with 300 spectators at the German Sport & Olympia Museum provided a big stage for the five best student teams that made it to the finals of the competition of Cologne's universities.
The surprise: the jury was so convinced by the ideas of RheinSharing and Save the Grain that both teams took first place - and each took home prizes worth €5,000.

2 x 1st place - Save the Grain and RheinSharing:

The RheinSharing team is developing small-scale water flow power plants in urban areas in conurbations.

Save the Grain uses a three-step model to combat crop loss in sub-Saharan Africa. Through the provision of information to farmers, innovation in the form of drying houses for crop storage and the implementation of cooperatives for fairer trade.

3rd place - Future Box Pinball:

Future Box Pinball win with their augmented reality pinball machine that combines digital with analogue to create a new kind of gaming experience - and win €1,000.

Audience Award - SmartSwimPal:

The audience favourite was SmartSwimPal. They develop digital swimming lessons with structured and didactic units as an app. They receive the Audience Award, also worth €1,000.

 

Special prize for Impact Entrepreneurship OH CIRCLE:

Commitment to Sustainability was also rewarded in the contest. Among all the entries, OH CIRCLE won the special prize of 1,000 €.
