WiSo@ Academic Short Programmes

The WiSo Faculty offers its students the exclusive opportunity to participate in one of two exciting and challenging intensive programmes abroad, located in the hearts of iconic cities: WiSo@London and WiSo@NYC. Both programmes are planned and organised by the WiSo Faculty’s International Relations Center (ZIB WiSo) and enable students to earn up to 21 (BSc) or 24 ECTS (MSc) for participating in WiSo@NYC and up to 18 ECTS towards their degree for taking part in WiSo@London (Bachelors only).

In addition to developing academic expertise on current topics in the areas of management, business strategy, and innovation, WiSo@ programmes place special emphasis on students’ personal (communication and interpersonal skills) and professional development (time and task management, presentation, and networking skills) in an international setting. Professional visits offered by corporate partners in the respective target cities help to sharpen career perspectives by creating links between theory and practice.

WiSo@NYC

Each year, the WiSo Faculty offers its students the exclusive opportunity to participate in an exciting and challenging intensive programme in the heart of New York City. The WiSo@NYC programme is open for bachelor and master students, and is planned and organised by the WiSo Faculty’s International Relations Center (ZIB WiSo). The Programme enables students to earn up to 21 (BSc) or 24 ECTS (MSc) towards their degree.

Programme Dates (tentative): 04 August - 12 September 2025 (Masters)
Location: New York City

Generally, the course content aims to address current American topics in the area of management, business strategy and economics, and takes an analytical and comparative approach to Europe. All courses are taught in English by local faculty.

WiSo@London

Organised under the University of Cologne's administrative umbrella, and taught by professors affiliated with UK institutions, the WiSo@London programme offers a unique four-week study experience abroad, including co-curricular excursions and company visits.

Programme Dates: 18 August - 12 September 2025 (Bachelors)
Location: London 

Courses address current topics in the area of management, business strategy, and economics from a UK perspective. All courses are taught in English by faculty from the UK institutions.
