Summer schools, Blended Intensive Programmes and other options
Students wishing to go abroad for a short-term can choose to participate in one of the summer schools or Blended Intensive Programmes offered by our partner universities. Summer schools usually last between two and six weeks and offer a combination of academic courses and leisure activities. Most summer schools are held in English and charge a programme fee. Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are a format within the EU's Erasmus+ programme that combines short-term mobility of usually five days with virtual learning phases beofre and/or after the mobility.

A list of the summer schools offered by the WiSo Faculty's partner universities as well as a step-by-step guide on how to attend a summer school can be found in the download section in the top right of this page (on mobile devices, please click 'More' at the bottom of the page).
Summer schools offered by our partner universities are published in the WiSo Exchange (WEX) International Outgoings Portal. Please register or apply directly with the respective partner university.
In addition to the summer schools offerend by WiSo partners, the University of Cologne International Office also organises a variety of summer schools in cooperation with numerous UoC partner universities. Further information can be found on their website.
Blended Intensive Programmes
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are short-term Erasmus+ mobility opportunities that combine virtual learning with a physical mobility component abroad. They bring together students and staff from at least three different countries to collaborate on innovative, interdisciplinary topics. BIPs promote international experience, digital skills, and academic exchange in a flexible and inclusive format.
See the download section for further information on BIPs, funding and how to apply.
