Programme Structure

The Bachelor's Programme in Economics consists of 180 ECTS and has a standard study period of six semesters. The programme consists of the following components:

In the Core and Advanced Section, the fundamentals of economics and methods are taught and elective options are offered (Behavioural Economics, Ecological Economics, Economic History, International Economics).

In the Specialisation Section (72 ECTS), students choose one of three tracks in their third semester:

  • Specialisation in Economics ("Economics" with the option of Data Analysis)
  • Specialisation in Business Administration ("Economics and Business")
  • Specialisation in Social Sciences ("Economics, Politics, and Society")

Studium Integrale (12 ECTS) is a university-wide and interdisciplinary component of the programme, in which course with both theoretical or practical content can be chosen. 

The Bachelor's thesis (12 ECTS) is the final component of the programme.

Study Objectives

Graduates develop competencies at level six of the German Qualification Framework,  respectively the Bachelor's level of the German Qualification Framework for Higher Education Qualifications. Intended learning outcomes are shown in the table below. The intended learning outcomes state the overarching learning goals that the programme envisions for the graduates. The learning objectives refer to the concrete activities of the students during their studies.
