Advice from students for prospective students

If you want to know what it's actually like to study at Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences or if you want to find out first-hand what is important in your desired degree programme, we have the right offers for you here. Also if you are not sure yet or  want to find out whether your study decision really suits you, you have come to the right place.

In our "Student Q & A" format, one of our student colleagues will present the degree programmes of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences to you in a short digital presentation. You will receive first-hand insights and reports on your experiences and can directly ask questions about your studies, the respective degree programme and student life in Cologne.

Info session WiSSPo 2+ "Mentally strengthened through studies"

Are you starting your 2nd or higher semester in the Bachelor's programme at the WiSo Faculty and have questions about your future course of studies?
In our info sessions we will give you an overview of exciting topics concerning your studies at the WiSo Faculty (in German language). You can also find the entire programmehere.

Next, we will offer an event on the exciting and important topic of "mental strength". With this, we would like to raise awareness of one's own mental health, because this is particularly important in order to get through one's studies well and successfully. We will provide information about potential challenges in studying and mention important starting points as well as individual offers of help.

Study programmes in London and New York - application round opens on 15th November

Our WiSo@ programmes in London and New York allow you to easily integrate a stay abroad lasting several weeks into your studies at the WiSo Faculty. As part of the programmes, which take place during the lecture-free period in August and September, you can earn up to 18 ECTS (London) or 21 ECTS (New York). In addition to selected, practice-oriented specialist courses with international guest lecturers, the programmes also include various company visits and cultural events. Special emphasis is placed on making initial professional contacts and getting to know the working world in one of the most exciting metropolises in the USA or the UK.

Interested? In 30-minute Zoom sessions, we will give you in-depth insights into the programme process, the application requirements and the integration of your achievements into your studies, and we will answer any questions you may have about WiSo@NYC and WiSo@London.

The 30-minute information events will take place on the following dates:

Preparation for the job fair „Absolventenkongress“ - via Zoom on 15th November

The annual job fair “Absolventenkongress” at Köln Messe is approaching (Nov 23rd + 24th) – prior to that we will give you important tips on your CV, how to present yourself and how to successfully network - so that you are optimally prepared to talk to your potential future employers!

Use this Zoom preparation meeting for your questions about CVs and self-presentation! Because preparation is the be-all and end-all. This event is the perfect crash course with expert tips from the WiSo-Career-Service!

Get Started SoWi (Social Sciences) - Input on Internships on Tuesday, 14th November

Attention social scientists: Even during your studies, internships and contacts to potential employers are important for you. But how and where do you find interesting internships, and how do you create a convincing application that suits your profile?

The WiSo-Career-Service offers an informal group counselling for students of the social sciences. During this session we will answer questions about the entire application process: from cover letter to a job interview invitation. What are the do's and don’ts of a good application and internship search? We will discuss a sample CV, look at CVs and cover letters that you have brought with you and answer any questions participants may have.

You are cordially invited! If you like, you can bring your application documents or just listen and discuss your experiences in the group. We are also happy to collect questions in advance, just write to careerserviceSpamProtectionwiso.uni-koeln.de.

bdvb meets Deloitte: Workshop on "Mergers and acquisitions (M&A)"

The year will soon be over and we are happy to present our last two events for this year. 

First Event:

Together with BPW Köln e.V., we will be holding a cross-club networking evening on November 16 at 7 pm at Startplatz at Cologne Mediapark. The BPW Club Cologne is a network for professional women and consists of diverse members. By networking together, you have the opportunity to meet personalities beyond your own (club) horizon and learn more about them and their professional careers.
