Major in Business Administration

In the bachelor degree Business Administration the major currently consists of eleven modules, each worth eight credit points. Two modules are compulsory: ‘Financial Accounting’ and ‘Cost Accounting’. Students must choose seven out of the remaining nine modules ‘Channel Management’, ‘Decision Analysis’, ‘Financial Management’, ‘Capital Investment and Financing’, ‘Marketing’, ‘Operations Management’, ‘Organisation and Human Resources’, ‘Production and Logistics’ and ‘Corporate Management and International Management’. ¹ Examinations within this module can be taken with regard to the course catalogue in the summer term 2015 ultimately. ² Examinations within this module can be taken with regard to the course catalogue in the winter term 2015/16 for the first time.  Recommendation Students should bear in mind that the module ‘Fundamentals of Accounting’ from the subject area ‘Methods and Related Subjects’ should be taken prior or in parallel to the module ‘Financial Accounting’. Modules in Business Administration consist of basic and advanced modules, and should be taken in that order. Mid-term exams for Business Administration modules continue to be scheduled in the future, which means that courses and examinations of six of the modules are concluded in the first half of the lecture period, the other five modules in the second half. This should be taken into account when developing your study plan. Basic and advanced modules in the major in Business Administration The following chart shows the allocation of the modules in Business Administration to five areas (‘Accounting’, ‘Finance’, ‘Corporate Management, Organisation and Human Resources’, ‘Supply Chain Management’ and ‘Marketing’). A distinction is also made between basic and advanced modules. The module ‘Decision Analysis’ does not fit into any of the five areas but should be regarded as an advanced module since it requires a basic knowledge of statistics. Recommendation Where applicable, basic modules should be studied before advanced modules.
