Special Career Tuesday on the topic "hydrogen" with the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI)

Energy Night on the topic "hydrogen" with Viessmann & E.ON

The Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne (EWI) is a non-profit organization (gGmbH). It sees itself as a knowledge factory that aims at creating, disseminating and utilizing new knowledge about increasingly complex energy markets. The energy world is currently undergoing dramatic change, with changing political and social conditions as well as new technologies and innovations. These changes raise complex questions for which EWI is seeking answers: through practical and agenda-neutral energy economics research. Together with the EWI we are organizing a Special Career Tuesday on "hydrogen".

Intoduction to the topic:

  • What is it about?
  • Why is it an important topic nowadays?
  • What is the significance of the topic for the mammoth social task of "decarbonization/energy transition"?
  • What opportunities are there for shaping this newly emerging topic/market and why is it such an exciting topic for graduates in particular (keyword pioneering work)?

Speakers of the Institute of Energy Economics: Max Schönfisch has been a Research Associate at the EWI and a PhD student at the University of Cologne since 2016. In consulting projects for clients from industry and the public sector, he analyzed, for example, the potential impact of Brexit on the British and European electricity markets. Max Schönfisch will give an introduction on the topic oh "hydrogen". Lena Pickert has been a Research Analyst at the EMI since 2018. Her research focuses on sector coupling and security of electricity supply. Lena Pickert will present EWI as a potential employer and answer questions on entry opportunities and career perspectives.
