New Year, New member for the WiSo Faculty

ECONtribute welcomes Sonja Settele in January.

Prof. Settele is welcomed by WiSo Dean Thonemann. They shake hands on the picture and smile towards the camera.

Sonja Settele will join the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne. She will occupy the position as Associate Professor of Labour Economics and Human Resource Management.

She completed her studies and received her Ph.D. in Economics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Her research focuses on the role of beliefs and expectations for human decision-making in various domains. Moreover, she does research in health economics with a particular focus on systematic inequality in health outcomes. With her comprehensive knowledge in these specific fields, she is an excellent addition to the Cluster of Excellence.

Before joining the WiSo Faculty, Sonja Settele was an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen in the Department of Economics (CEBI). During that period of time, she also published in several renowned journals, such as the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy with a contribution “How do beliefs about the gender wage gap affect the demand for public policy?” or in the Economic Journal on “Lives or Livelihoods? Perceived Trade-offs and Policy Demand”. This only gives two significant examples of her extensive and up to date research.

Prof. Dr Pinger, spokesperson for the ECONtribute Cluster of Excellence in Cologne, is also excited to welcome Sonja Settele: “Sonja Settele […]is a great asset for the Cluster and the University of Cologne. With her research focus, she fits perfectly into the profile of our cluster. We are very much looking forward to her start”.

We are very proud and happy to welcome such a wonderful researcher to our team!
