As a student of the Double Master's Programme in Business Administration, you will benefit from the expertise of two leading universities. You will spend one year studying at the University of Cologne and one year at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and will graduate with two master’s degrees: a Master of Science in Business Administration - Corporate Development from the University of Cologne and a degree from the Post Graduate Programme in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. The double degree is integrated into the regular master's programmes. It includes courses from both universities and is based on credit transfer. You will write a master's thesis during your forth and fifth semester of studies, back in Cologne.

Programme

You can combine your studies at the University of Cologne with the study option at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Here, as a student, you will have the chance to widen your knowledge base to other topics in the management field as the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad boasts a wide range of elective options. This will complement the in-depth studies of your corporate development specialisation at Cologne.

Our partner: Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad

Founded in 1961, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) is one of the leading business schools in India and the Asia-Pacific region. It became the first business school in India to receive EQUIS accreditation in 2008.

Courses

You will begin your studies in Cologne in the winter semester, studying core method modules and courses of your specialisation. You will head out to the IIMA the following June for three IIMA terms, where you will take 18 IIMA credits in elective management courses. After returning to Cologne in March, you will take further courses in your specialisation, including a seminar in the summer semester and you will write your master’s thesis in the following winter semester.

The courses offered by the two universities cover a wide range of topics and complement each other very well. To get an idea of the content of the courses, take a look at the UoC course catalogue and the IIMA course list. There may be minor changes to the course catalogues in future academic years.

Benefits of studying a double degree

The experience of studying abroad is one that many people remember as the most enriching, eye-opening and inspiring time of their lives. Studying in two university systems gives you the opportunity to experience different study cultures, broadening your academic horizons, your network and your career opportunities. As well as providing you with an excellent academic programme, we want to give you the chance to gain international experience, meet people from many different parts of the world, develop intercultural skills and learn to navigate new challenges. We believe that you will grow tremendously as a person through this experience.

Career opportunities

The studies open up wide-ranging prospects for professional careers in both business management and consultancy, along with specialisation options – depending on the subjects chosen – in human resource management or in strategic organisational design and development. Corporate development applies to both private and public institutions, so this field can offer an extensive range of career paths.
