WiSSPo 2+ – Lectures for Bachelor students from second semester onwards

Are you starting your 2nd or higher semester in the Bachelor's programme at the WiSo Faculty and have questions about your future course of studies? 
In our lecture series, we will give you an overview of exciting topics related to your studies at the WiSo Faculty. 
 
Our next lecture will take place on 12.06.2023!
 
"Get started - tips for internship search and career planning". 
Why are internships and company contacts important? Where can I find an exciting internship? And what is the best way to apply? We will inform you about all aspects of career prospects, internships and CV checks.
 
The events take place on Mondays in lecture hall XXIV (WiSo tube), from 17:45-19:15. Registration for the events is not necessary, just come along. The language of the events is German. You can also find the entire programme here.

Changeover to new library management system in the summer – restrictions on loans

On 6 September 2023, the new library management system Alma will be launched. Before that, almost all internal workflows have to be adapted and a total of 5 million book data have to be integrated into the new system.

These are the main service restrictions during the changeover phase:

  • No interlibrary loan of books from 03.07. – 05.09.2023.
  • In the Main Library, Department of Human Sciences, HF Library Remedial Education and Rehabilitation as well as in the Libraries of Management, Sociology, and Economics - from the end of August until 05.09.2023 - you cannot:
    • borrow, renew or return any media,
    • order or reserve media,
    • access your library account,
    • create a library card or update your personal data,
    • pay any fees at the cash machine.
  • Any existing reservations from the old system will be deleted.

These restrictions fall exactly in the time of the term paper preparation. Plan ahead!

Working at an NGO - Career Tuesday on June 6 at 5 p.m. via Zoom

Are you interested in a meaningful career? You want to give back to society and make a difference? Working for an NGO could be the right path for you!

What does working at an NGO look like in practice? What are areas of work in an NGO? Which entry-level opportunities are there? What should you consider if you want to get your foot in the door in this coveted - and often idealized - sector?

You'll hear testimonials from three speakers: Chandni Kapoor, Heidi Wenge and Kamila Janosz talk about the work at CARE, Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, Habitat for Humanity and Engagement Global about their work in PR & international Marketing, Finance, Project management and application supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Here you can get inside tips and information about the world of NGOs, and you will have the opportunity to ask all your questions.

Invitation to the 21st Cologne Economic Policy Dialogue: Science meets practice

The Institute for Economic Policy together with the ECONtribute cluster of excellence and the Otto Wolff Stiftung would like to invite you to the 21st Cologne Economic Policy Dialogue. On 28 June 2023 from 12:00 to 13:30, Prof. Dr. Pia Pinger from the University of Cologne will discuss “Equal Opportunities in the German educational system" with Dr. Urban Mauer, State secretary at the Ministry of Schools and Education in North Rhine-Westphalia. The event will take place in the Lecture hall XXV in the Wiso building of the University of Cologne. After the discussion, we invite you to a small snack.
