The WAR advises the Federal Network Agency independently on issues of general regulatory policy importance and is made up of scientists from various disciplines that are relevant to the activities of the Federal Network Agency. The members of the WAR assess current issues according to their research specialisation. The Scientific Working Group usually meets six times a year, with the participation of the Executive Committee.
Professor Dr Axel Ockenfels is Professor of Economics at the University of Cologne and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Economics and the Federal Chancellor's Office. In addition, he is the Director of the Cologne Laboratory for Economic Research (CLER), Principal Investigator at the Centre for Social and Economic Behaviour (C-SEB) and a member of the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute. He has held visiting positions at Penn State, Harvard University, Stanford University and UC San Diego.
Ockenfels works on the economic design of markets and other institutions as well as behavioural research. His applications include market design for crises, electricity market design, climate policy, the sharing economy, telecommunications markets, organ shortages and health behaviour.
