Lecture Series "Understanding Society"

100th anniversary of the ISS

On the 9th of January 2019, the first lecture of the public lecture series "Understanding Society - Current Research from the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology" will take place. The lecture series is part of the program of the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology (ISS) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Institute.

The title of the first lecture by Prof. Dr. Sarah Carol is "Integration and Religion". The lecture will discuss the role of religion for the integration of people with a migration background in Germany and in an international comparison. The focus will be on the importance of religiosity for social contacts, values, educational success and delinquency.
In addition, the attitudes of people without a migration background and discrimination against religious minorities such as Muslims will be examined.

When and where?

The first lecture on 9 January 2019 will take place from 18:00-19:30 p.m. in the WiSo building in lecture hall I.
