Another outstanding result for the WiSo faculty: In the current AIS8 ranking of the Association of Information Systems, the Cologne Institute for Information Systems (CIIS) ranks 1st in Germany ahead of the Technical University of Darmstadt and the University of Mannheim. In a global comparison, CIIS ranks 53rd as of January 2022 being one of the top 100. CIIS is in 9th place in Europe and is in second place in the entire German-speaking region (after the University of St. Gallen). Research publications in eight leading scientific journals in the field of information systems from 2017 to 2021 were included in the ranking.

The CIIS research centre of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne, brings together research teams from five chairs. With future-oriented research topics, such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, digital innovation and sustainability, it has been one of the best-ranked research institutions for information systems worldwide since its foundation. Students are offered a broad field of exciting research tasks already in the context of teaching, for example, in the areas of social (media) network analysis or sustainability.

The Master's programme "Information Systems", run by CIIS, offers an interdisciplinary programme with three focal areas adressing current societal changes: Business Analytics and Data Science, Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Digital Sustainable Society. In addition to excellent career prospects, it provides students with practical and theoretical tools to face current social challenges in business, society or research.

We congratulate on the again outstanding ranking!
