The working group has initiated a self-organised peer mentoring programme that brings together female and non-binary doctoral students, postdocs and junior professors. Through events, writing workshops and regular meetings, interdisciplinary research can be carried out together. This is particularly beneficial for young scientists to network.
The Jenny Gusyk Awards have been presented by the Equal Opportunities Officer at the University of Cologne since 2010. The three prizes awarded annually in the field of equality/gender or queer studies/family-friendly management not only recognise outstanding achievements in these areas, but also commemorate Jenny Gusyk, the first female student at the University of Cologne after its re-establishment at the end of the First World War.
The prizes were awarded at the annual GenderForum of the University of Cologne on 28 October 2020. In addition, it offered all interested parties an insight into the developments in gender equality work at the university. The focus topic of this year's event was ‘Time Justice: a question of power and freedom - also in science’ with a keynote speech by journalist and author Teresa Bücker.
We warmly congratulate the ‘Women and Non-binary Research Group’ at the Cologne Center for Comparative Politics on this special award and we look forward to further innovative research.
