Success for WiSo Faculty in latest Times Higher Education Subject Rankings

National top ten positions 2024 reinforced.

Success for the WiSo Faculty in the subject rankings of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE). In the latest ranking ("World University Rankings 2024 by subject"), the Faculty has made a significant contribution to the University's national top ten positions: In the subject area "Business and Economics", the WiSo Faculty, together with the Freie Universität Berlin, is ranked 5th in Germany. In "Social Sciences", the University of Cologne, together with the University of Bremen, is ranked 8th in the country.

The THE Subject Ranking comprises a total of 11 subject rankings. In more than half of the subjects ranked, the University of Cologne is among the top 10 universities in Germany. In addition to "Economics" and "Social Sciences", "Law" (4th place) and "Arts & Humanities" (7th place) also achieved outstanding rankings. Cologne's "Psychology", together with the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, is ranked 9th, as is "Education", where the University of Cologne is also ranked 9th, together with the University of Mannheim, the University of Potsdam, the Technical University of Dortmund and the Technical University of Dresden.

About the ranking: THE World University Ranking is one of the most influential university rankings in the world and is published annually. The rankings are based on 17 indicators covering teaching, research environment, research quality, internationality and industry.

In the Times Higher World University Ranking 2024, the University of Cologne is ranked 160 (out of 1,904). This places it in the top 9 per cent of all listed institutions worldwide.
