With the new WiSo Ethics Award, the WiSo Faculty at the University of Cologne emphasizes the importance of ethical and responsible research. This award honors exceptional Bachelor's and Master's theses that address issues of ethics and social responsibility. In Summer 2025, the award will be presented for the first time as part of the Graduation Ceremony, recognizing one Bachelor's and one Master's thesis.
Participants have the opportunity to nominate their own work for consideration when submitting their theses. A basic requirement for entry is that the work adheres to the ethical standards upheld by the Faculty’s Ethics Committee. These principles promote responsible research and support the development of an awareness of social and scientific responsibility.
The Ethics Award highlights the significance of ethical considerations in research while aiming to inspire future students to approach complex societal challenges responsibly. The award-winning theses will set standards for integrity and social responsibility, showcasing the value of ethical excellence in research and society.
The WiSo Faculty is excited to present the Ethics Award for the first time at the Graduation Ceremony in Summer 2025, using this occasion to raise awareness of the urgency of ethical issues in academic work.
