We are pleased to announce that WiSo Professor Dr Annabelle Hofer was honoured with this year's Best Symposium Award at the Academy of Management 2nd Careers Division Community Conference 2024. The jury consisted of Prof. Dr Wolfgang Mayrhofer and the team from the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The conference took place from 18 to 19 April at the Virje Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The Careers Division of the Academy of Management supports research, teaching and practice focusing on the lifelong sequence of work experiences, the structure of work opportunities and the relationship between careers and other aspects of life. Key topics include individual career development, career management strategies, career planning, career outcomes (e.g., success, plateau), relationships between human resource systems and careers, etc.
Junior professor Dr Annabelle Hofer organised the symposium "Platform work challenges: Multidisciplinary perspectives on platform workers experiences and behaviours" with four presentations. The focus was among other things on the search for social support for platform workers, the role of online platforms in promoting self-management and the decisions made by women in the platform economy.
Dr Annabelle Hofer is Junior Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne. Before taking up this position in 2022, she worked as a research assistant and lecturer in Bern and Lucerne. She completed her doctorate at the University of Bern. Her research focuses on Sustainable Organisational Behavior, Sustainable Human Resource Management, Careers, Platform Economy/Gig Economy, Precariousness/Precarious Forms of Work and New Forms of Work.
