Lecture series “Introduction to Plural Economics – Rethinking the Economy“

In the winter term 2024/25, the student association Plural Economics Cologne (Plurale Ökonomik Köln) organizes the lecture series “Introduction to Plural Economics – Rethinking the economy”.

Economic problems should not only be analyzed from a single economic perspective, but in a multidimensional way.

The lecture series offers an introduction to various schools of thought that exist alongside the predominant Neoclassical school. These include e. g. Feminist economics, Marxism, Modern Monetary Theory and Post-growth economics. Current economic problems such as social inequality and perspectives of the Global South will also be discussed. The lectures will be held by renowned speaker from German-speaking countries, including Prof. Dr. Achim Truger, member of the German council of Economic experts, and post-growth economist Prof. Dr. Niko Paech.
The lecture series is aimed at students from all disciplines, guest listeners and the interested public. Starting 9th October 2024, it will take place weekly on Wednesdays from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in lecture hall XXIV (WiSo building, no. 101). The lectures will be held in German.

Students of the University of Cologne can be accredited six ECTS in Studium Integrale for the lecture series. Registration takes place in the second enrollment phase, starting 27th august, or in the allocation of remaining places. In KLIPS 2.0, you find the course under the number 14302.8000 and the title "Einführung in die Plurale Ökonomik - Wirtschaft neu denken".
A certificate of participation can also be issued for guest students.
