January 2024: Winter School from Global School in Empirical Research Methods at University of Ljubiljana, Slovenia

The Global School in Empirical Research Methods (GSERM) is a sophisticated programme on qualitative and quantitative methods. At the beginning of next year GSERM offers a winter school in cooperation with the University of Ljubiljana. From 8 - 19 January 2024 six courses will take place in Ljubiljana.

ReStart Talk "Im Spannungsfeld der Kulturen - Staatsbürgerschaft für in Deutschland geborene Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund" on 21 November 2023 with Christina Felfe, Chair of Applied Microeconomics at the University of Konstanz.

Since 01.01.2000, children born in Germany automatically receive German citizenship if their non-German parents live in Germany for a longer period of time.

What does this mean for the children? The researcher has examined various aspects - participation in education, social integration in the form of willingness to cooperate as well as cultural identity.

She comes to the conclusion that boys in particular benefit from citizenship, are more successful at school and are better integrated socially. Girls whose parents come from countries with traditional gender norms, however, suffer from the conflict of German culture and that of their parents, which is intensified by German citizenship. This has a negative impact on their well-being and integration.

ECONtribute places a special focus on gender equality issues with the ReStart lecture series. Several times a year, experts from the cluster and high-ranking guests give lectures that highlight various gender equality aspects and bring them closer to a broad audience from academia and the interested public.

80 people - 80 stories: Reading with a Deloitte manager

On October 30th at 7pm you can expect an unforgettable event with the inspiring Marie-Luise Kissler and her fascinating guests. 

Marie-Luise is a manager at Deloitte in the area of technology & strategy and has additionally taken the step to write her own book.
Her book is about highlighting the diversity and unique professional stories of 80 different individuals. These individuals, including members of the Bundestag, tattoo artists, chocolatiers and many more, share their professional successes and failures, as well as personal tips and tricks, in interviews. It encourages young women to find their own calling in a world of self and other demands.

Dive into the world of diversity, discover 80 impressive personalities and be inspired by their experiences and advice. This Friday (27.10.2023) at 6pm is the time: The Dialogue Night with the topic "Leadership Unplugged: What makes good leadership?" will take place at the WiSo Faculty of the University of Cologne. Here you will have the chance to meet high-level entrepreneurs and other ambitious students in a casual atmosphere and engage in exciting discussions.

The event will start with a panel discussion with leaders from different fields, our participants are Mira Schwartz (Managing Director at Accenture), Viviane Papa (Head of HR/Talent Management at Evonik), Alexandra de Lorenzis (Leadership Coach at KPMG) and Christian Keller (Managing Director at FC Cologne). Our moderator will be Laura Maria Weber (RTL Business News).

After the discussion, you will have the opportunity to examine questions about leadership in small groups (consisting of students and entrepreneurs) and to work out solutions together. Afterwards, a small dinner invites you to network with the other participants in a relaxed atmosphere.
