Dear graduates, 

On 18th January 2025 the time has come and you can celebrate your graduation with your friends and families. Make sure you get your tickets on time!

You can still buy tickets for the after-show party at the RheinEnergieSTADION at a pre-sale price of €15 until 15th January 2025 (https://www.wiso-buero.uni-koeln.de/wp/examensfeier/kartenbestellung/examensfeier-tickets/). If there are still tickets available, you can of course still get them at the box office.

Career Tuesday – Giving Voice to Values in your career

Career Tuesday – Giving Voice to Values in your career: 14th January at 5:00 p.m.

Imagine you start an internship at your dream company - the place where you've always wanted to work. But after a short time, you realize that practices are being applied there that contradict your own beliefs and values. You are torn: “What should I do?” “How do I stay true to my principles?” This is exactly where our Career Tuesday comes in. Using the proven “Giving Voice to Values” method, you will learn how to recognize such conflicts early on and develop solutions that are in line with your own values.

In this interactive workshop, we will work with real-life case studies to help you apply the method in a practical way. In this way, you can learn step by step how to represent your convictions clearly and confidently - no matter how challenging the situation may be. Get ready to defend your values strongly and convincingly at work!

Career Tuesday: Career prospects Social Sciences and Politics on 21st January 2025 at 5 p.m.

In our Career Tuesday in collaboration with WiSo alumni, you will find out how former SoWi and politics graduates entered professional life, what challenges they mastered and what other career prospects opened up along the way.

Alumna Jannika Schlitt, who has been a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since November 2024, will be there. Previously, she worked primarily in the field of political education, including as a consultant in the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the State Agency for Civic Education in North Rhine- Westphalia. She has completed her master's degree in political science at our Faculty. More speakers to follow. More on our website.

New Year, New York!

This six-week programme (4th August – 12th September 2025) is set in the heart of New York City and allows you to seamlessly integrate a study abroad experience into your degree programme at the WiSo-Faculty.

The curriculum consists of four specialized courses and addresses current American topics in the area of management, business strategy, and economics. Co-curricular site visits to corporate partners, start-ups, and institutions provide unique networking opportunities with locals and expats.

STAP Main Selection Round: Last Reminder!

The ZIB (International Relations Center) invites all WiSo Master students to apply for a STAP term abroad for either fall 2025/26 or spring 2026. The STAP Main Selection round accepts applications until 15th January 2025 (including) through the WiSo exchange database (WEX).

Skills shortages, generational change, AI, four-day week, basic income, work-life balance, economic strength, corporate culture... Everyone is talking about the changing labour market. But what exactly does this change mean for employers on the one hand and employees on the other? What needs, desires and concerns do both sides have about the labour market and how can change be shaped together?

These are just some of the questions that will be discussed at the panel discussion: „Expectations, realities, visions - how employees and employers shape work together“, organised by WiSoAlumni WiSo-Fakultät, PhilAlumni and Career Service PhilFak in cooperation with KölnAlumni - Das Netzwerk der Universität zu Köln on Thursday, 16 January 2025, starting at 6 pm.
