Every year, only the top 100 make it into the internationally renowned ‘Masters in Management’ ranking of the Financial Times, which evaluates the best business schools and MBA programmes worldwide. Only two state universities, the WiSo Faculty of the University of Cologne and the University of Mannheim, are represented in the 2024 ranking.
From a global perspective, WiSo's Master in International Management (CEMS MIM) programme occupies an outstanding 40th place in the current Financial Times ‘Masters in Management’ ranking. Compared to 2023, the WiSo Faculty has again improved its position, moving up six places. This puts the University of Cologne in 5th place overall in Germany, having moved up one place compared to the previous year.
‘These results confirm that the WiSo Faculty offers top international management education with the CEMS MIM and reinforce our commitment to educating future generations of responsible managers. Our excellent positions in renowned rankings underline the competitiveness of the WiSo Faculty and the University of Cologne, both nationally and internationally, and demonstrate the high quality of research and teaching,’ says Prof Ulrich Thonemann, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne.
In the ‘International Course Experience Rank’, the WiSo Faculty is ranked first in Germany and has achieved a top 10 position internationally, placing 5th. No other German university has graduates completing a comparable number of internships and stays abroad. The average salary of WiSo-MIM alumni three years after graduation puts the WiSo Faculty in the top 20 internationally and in third place in Germany.
The Master in International Management (CEMS MIM) of the WiSo Faculty is a pioneer in modern international management education. It is offered jointly by the CEMS network, an unprecedented global alliance of 33 leading business schools spread across five continents, along with more than 80 multinational corporations and NGOs. Only one of the most prestigious universities in each country can become a member of this alliance. The University of Cologne represents Germany.
The Financial Times ‘Masters in Management’ ranking annually assesses the top 100 internationally accredited business schools and universities worldwide. To collect the data, both the graduates and the universities answer comprehensive questionnaires. The Master's programmes are ranked according to approximately 20 criteria, with particular emphasis on the career development of alumni.
