Enrolled – now what? Read through the information here and join the welcome events to kick off your studies successfully!
1. Student Account
After you have paid the semester fee (social fee) and enrolled, you will receive an email with the information about how to activate your account. Activate your account to access KLIPS 2.0 and ILIAS.
On the ITCC-website you will find information on how to activate your student account.
You can access your university email via sogo. You will also receive important notifications from the Examinations Office about your studies via this e-mail address - so please check your account at least once a week.
2. Contact Information
Please check your address and phone number in KLIPS 2.0 to ensure you can be reached for important information from the Examination Office (Prüfungsamt).
3. Module Catalogue & Examination Regulations
Familiarize yourself with the key documents related to your studies:
Module Catalogue: Here you will find model study plans, module content, schedules, and all relevant details. Module Catalogues are valid for one academic year; previous versions are available in the website archive.
You must also register for exams in KLIPS 2.0 within certain deadlines. Always pay attention to the registration deadline! Registration is only possible for one of two (alternative) exam dates: Exam Organization.
5. Learning Material
Course materials such as presentations, lecture slides, downloadable files, and up-to-date course information are available on ILIAS. The courses you have attended are automatically transferred from KLIPS 2.0 to ILIAS; you register for other courses yourself.
In the Learning Center (room 0.243) behind the coffee bar, you can visit the Lica Service and pick up lost and found items from the WiSo building.
You can use the Anny app to reserve study places at the WiSo Faculty, arrange consultation appointments and book courses at the Teaching Library. You can find more information here.
7. Credit Transfer
Have you already completed coursework at another university? You can submit a credit transfer application here.
8. Semester Abroad

10. Inclusion, Health & Equal Opportunities
The Inclusion Support Center offers individual counseling and group services for students with disabilities, neurodivergence, or mental health challenges. Here you can get answers to questions about academic adjustments and accommodated exams (Nachteilsausgleich).

11. WiSo Student Council (Fachschaft WiSo)
The WiSo Student Council is run by students, for students, and offers numerous opportunities to support you in your studies. Find lecture notes, past exams, or participate in exam preparation workshops. You’ll benefit from a strong network of peers who help you get oriented and make connections. You can also join student committees and contribute ideas to help shape the study programs.
13. Well-being Lounge: An open meeting place for students
To all our (international) first-year students who are new to Cologne or Germany:
The University of Cologne's Well-being Lounge opened on 19 November 2025. It is designed as an open, relaxation and study area during the opening hours of the central cafeteria. Student staff is available during opening hours for talking, guidance and information about university services. This is a great place to make your first contacts at the university and in the city.
