If you have read the previous pages and still have questions, you will find answers to frequently asked questions in this section. If your concerns are still not resolved, please contact us directly.
1) How do I know in which registration phase my course will be offered?
In this case, you have most likely already committed to the required number of modules in a subject section – either by registering for exams or by selecting the ‘W’ next to a checkbox. You can find a detailed explanation of this in our image click guide to technical specifications.
Such a specification can only be cancelled by the WiSo Examination Office.
A module or group determination in KLIPS can be cancelled directly via the WiSo-Inbox or an informal, written application. Please attach the hand-signed request as a PDF document to the WiSSPo contact form. You will then see the cancellation in KLIPS after approx. 5 working days.
2) In KLIPS, I can no longer view all modules that are selectable according to the course catalogue. What has happened?

3) I cannot find a course for a module for the coming semester. What should I do?
Some courses are offered on a specific term or may be omitted for one semester. Please first check the MHB valid for your degree programme to see whether the course will actually be offered in the upcoming semester.
Under point 1) above, you will find explanations on how to check in KLIPS in which registration phase a course is available for selection. If a course cannot be selected despite the appropriate cycle and registration phase, please contact us.
4) I didn't get a place in a tutorial. What can I do?
Please use the WiSo Faculty's remaining place allocation period, in which free places are allocated on a first come, first served principle.
Please note that the likelihood of obtaining a fixed place in a tutorial group increases if you express your preferences for as many groups as possible and then prioritise them.
5) I do not want to take my assigned place in a course (e.g. tutorial) and would like to have a different one. What can I do?
Please first deregister from the course you have been assigned to and then register for a course that still has places available during the remaining place allocation.
Please note that free places in your target course may be taken by other students during the remaining place allocation. It is therefore advisable to change course assignments at the beginning of the remaining place allocation.
6) Before the official publication of the award results, I found a course in my calendar in KLIPS 2.0. Now it has disappeared. What happened?
If you have set your calendar in KLIPS so that all your course registration requests appear there, this may give the impression that you have been allocated a place in a particular course, even though you are only on the course registration request list. Please do not be surprised if your calendar or the information under ‘Course registration/deregistration’ looks different after the official publication of the allocation results than it did before. Between the end of the registration phases and publication, support staff will be carrying out work.
7) According to the course catalogue, a module has an exercise that I cannot register for in KLIPS. What can I do?
If an exercise is listed in KLIPS in a module but cannot be selected, this is usually a lecture with integrated exercise (VU). This type of course also covers the content of the exercise in the lecture. There is therefore no separate exercise, which means that it cannot be selected in KLIPS.
For the KLIPS login, click on the log-in button at the top right of the page and then enter the username and password of your s-mail account. Detailed information about your student account can be found on the website of the Regionalen Rechenzentrums Köln (RRZK).
9) Can I use a smartphone or tablet for KLIPS?
KLIPS can be used without restriction via mobile browsers. The system is optimised for mobile devices.
The business card holds all information and applications for your studies. To go to your business card, click on your name at the top right of the page.
12) Can I change the appearance of KLIPS?
Using the application Personal Settings, you can change, for example, the size of the font, the order of icons etc.
