The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences mourns the loss of Dr André Drost, Head of the WiSo Library & Campus Service and the Library Team. He passed away on 14 August 2026.
In André Drost, the Faculty has lost a highly respected colleague who was greatly valued far beyond his immediate team. Through his work, he played a pivotal role in developing a broader understanding of what a library can be at the WiSo Faculty. Under his leadership, the University of Cologne’s first integrated faculty library was established, together with the WiSo Library & Campus Service, which combines information provision with key responsibilities in the areas of teaching and learning as well as space and campus management.
His concepts for the renovation of the WiSo high-rise, the WiSo Scholar Centres and the transformation of the low-rise building into a modern Learning Centre will continue to shape the Faculty’s future development.
Book of condolence
A book of condolence will be available at the Dean’s Office of the WiSo Faculty until 15 September 2026. It is located in room 1.320 of the WiSo Extension Building, Universitätsstraße 24, and will subsequently be presented to the family.
