We are pleased to announce that with Maximilian A. Müller, an experienced and promising scientist and committed university lecturer holds the Chair of Financial Accounting at the WiSo Faculty as of June 2022. Professor Müller is following in big footsteps at the "Fiduciary Seminar". The seminar, founded in the early days of business administration research, goes back to Eugen Schmalenbach, also known as the "father of auditors" and one of the founders of modern business administration.

Maximilian Müller's ability to fill big shoes is demonstrated not least by research papers in renowned journals, e.g. on the impact of disclosure regulations on the capital markets. He is also a member of the editorial board of the European Accounting Review. In addition to the disclosure of financial information in capital markets, Professor Müller's research focuses on the fields of international accounting and corporate taxation.

After completing his doctorate at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management while being a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Tilburg, Professor Müller demonstrated his scientific excellence early on, among others, in visiting the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as a DAAD-Postdoc scholar. From 2016, following his junior professorship in Financial Reporting, he held the Financial Reporting Chair at WHU for three years before moving to the European School of Management and Technology Berlin (ESMT) as an Associate Professor of Accounting.

Maximilian Müller maintains the link between theory and practice not only as an academic advisor for a quantitative asset management company but also when engaging in executive education. His diverse media and blog contributions also promote a broader understanding of financial issues among different target groups, such as managers, students and the general public. His teaching is characterized by a close link to practice, reflected in numerous awards, such as the Best Teacher Award of the WHU, which Professor Müller has received four times.

We join WiSo Dean Ulrich Thonemann in wishing Professor Müller all the best for his start at WiSo.
