The Master in International Management (CEMS MIM), offered exclusively by the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo Faculty), has once again sent a strong international signal: in the current Financial Times Masters in Management ranking, the programme ranks first in Germany and eighth worldwide in the “International Course Experience” category. This category reflects students’ international study and practical experiences, underlining the CEMS MIM’s distinctive opportunities for study abroad and international internships.
This positive trend is also reflected in the overall ranking. The programme is placed 34th worldwide and third among German universities – an improvement of three places internationally and one place nationally compared with the previous year. The programme’s long-term development also reflects a continuous upward trend: Since 2022, it has improved by 20 places, rising from 54th to 34th in the international ranking.
The programme also scores strongly in terms of career prospects: for weighted salary three years after graduation, it maintains its strong position from the previous year, ranking 17th worldwide. At the same time, the evaluation of the alumni network has improved significantly, rising from 59th to 38th place globally.
The Financial Times Masters in Management ranking is one of the most prestigious international comparisons of master’s programmes in management. Each year, leading programmes worldwide are assessed against a wide range of criteria, including data provided by universities and surveys of graduates, with a particular focus on alumni career development and prospects.
“The CEMS MIM is the international flagship of the WiSo Faculty and, like no other degree programme, embodies our combination of excellent academic education, international experience and close links with practice. The results of the FT Masters in Management ranking clearly confirm that our students benefit in the long term from an internationally outstanding study and career network. The diverse opportunities for study abroad and international practical experience are an integral part of the education. We are particularly pleased that this quality is also recognised and valued internationally,” says Prof. Ulrich Thonemann, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne.
The Master in International Management (CEMS MIM) at the WiSo Faculty is an internationally oriented management programme offered in partnership with the CEMS network. This global alliance brings together leading business schools with multinational companies and NGOs. The University of Cologne has been a member of CEMS since its foundation in 1988 and represents Germany within the network.
Through its combination of academic education, international study experience, practical elements and a global network, the CEMS MIM prepares students for responsible roles in an increasingly international working world.
