Shaping the Future with Data:

Students present AI Projects for Industry.

Three students standing on a podium, with a presentation in the background. They are presenting their capstone project at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne, which they invented during a lecture that focuses on AI and Management connected topics.

Applause, lively conversations, and proudly presented results characterised the Capstone Showcase at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. Over the course of five months, master’s students in the Business Analytics and Econometrics programme had been working on data-driven solutions to real-world challenges – and now they were presenting their projects.

Guided by project leads Dr Stefan Rose and Professor Markus Weinmann, the students worked closely with 13 renowned industry partners. Their goal was to develop practical solutions using artificial intelligence and machine learning methods – such as demand forecasting, process automation, and data-driven decision support. The showcase impressively demonstrated how academic knowledge and business practice can successfully come together.

The event featured a diverse programme: an inspiring keynote by Thomas Schultz-Homberg (CEO, Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger Medien), a lively panel discussion on the topic “Talent Wanted”, poster sessions, project presentations, and a festive awards ceremony.
