Sources, Supporting Aids and Affidavit

Every thesis must include a list of the resources and aids used, particularly the bibliographic sources. Unless otherwise specified by the examiner, you may use the template provided here for the thesis title page.

Every thesis must be accompanied by an affidavit. To submit the affidavit, please use the form available here. Sign the first page and submit it separately from the thesis. The second page is for your information.
Please note that this affidavit must be submitted in German even if the rest of the thesis is written in English.

Since submitting a false affidavit constitutes a criminal offense, in the event of academic misconduct, the Joint Examination Committee must decide whether the University of Cologne’s Legal Affairs Office should file a criminal complaint.
To avoid acts of deception, you should strictly follow the respective guidelines for writing academic papers provided by the chair, institute, or seminar of the thesis advisor. This also applies to the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
