Education according to Principles for Responsible Management: PRME

Since October 2014, the WiSo Faculty of the University of Cologne has been a signatory of PRME.

The United Nations-supported initiative PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) aims to create a global movement and implement thought leadership in responsible management education and research. For this purpose, PRME creates frameworks that promote education according to principles for responsible management . It develops learning societies and promotes awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences has thus voluntarily committed itself to engage in a continuous improvement process of these principles, to report on progress made and to share effective practices with other academic institutions. In recent years, the faculty has thus systematically developed the integration of ERS in teaching and research.

As a PRME member, members of the WiSo Faculty can participate in international training, certificate programmes and professional development opportunities related to responsible management education. Working groups, regional networks and joint projects also provide opportunities to contribute expertise, collaborate on publications, and share teaching materials and good practices. In addition, PRME Awards recognise outstanding contributions by educators, researchers and students.

"Five sessions, five very different perspectives on teaching: from systems thinking to active learning methods to the critical use of AI in the classroom. What I valued most was the exchange with educators from entirely different higher education systems - it quickly puts your own assumptions into perspective. Above all, I came away with a concrete repertoire of methods that can be tried out straight away. The workload was manageable alongside regular work - I would recommend the format to colleagues who want to work deliberately on their teaching practice."
