Database description
LSEG Workspace contains information on commodities, equities, fixed income securities and hedge funds, foreign exchange and money markets, and wealth management.
Various services are available via the Workspace platform, in particular the Datastream database.
The database
- contains tools for navigating news, including videos of live and on-demand equity news broadcasts.
- offers key market data, charts, time series analysis and streaming news from Reuters and other financial institutions and market research companies for price analysis and global indices of individual stocks.
- contains charts and fundamental data, proprietary data and analysis to provide actionable insights into the global stock market.

WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services)
Datenbankbeschreibung
Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) ist eine webbasierte Plattform der Wharton School der University of Pennsylvania. Daten zahlreicher Wirtschaftsdatenbanken werden unter einer einheitlichen Oberfläche strukturiert zusammengeführt und können einheitlich durchsucht, verknüpft und gespeichert werden, wodurch die Vergleichbarkeit und gemeinsame Weiterverarbeitung der Daten begünstigt wird. Das Datenbankangebot besteht aus 2 Teilen:
- (1) Datenbanken, die mit der Basis-Subskription von WRDS genutzt werden können (Included Datasets & Analytics): Bank Regulatory, Blockholders, CBOE,DMEF, Dow Jones, Fama French, FDIC, Federal Reserve Bank Reports, IRI, OTC Markets, Penn World Tables, Philadelphia Stock Exchange, SEC Disclosure of Order Execution, TRACE.
- (2) Datenbanken, die über WRDS genutzt werden können, wenn eine zusätzliche Lizenz für diese Titel bei den entsprechenden Datenbankanbietern erworben wurde (Additional Datasets & Analytics), z.B. Amadeus/Orbis, Audit + Compliance, COMPUSTAT, CRSP, Eventus, I/B/E/S, MFLinks, Ownership, Worldscope... .

Wie bekomme ich Zugang zu WRDS?
Um einen WRDS-Zugang beantragen zu können, müssen Sie folgende Voraussetzungen erfüllen:
- Sie sind Angehörige/r (Studierende/r oder Mitarbeiter:in) der WiSo-Fakultät.
- Sie verfügen über eine gültige Uni-Köln-Kennung (Uni-KIM).
1. Fakultätsinternes Anmeldeverfahren
Folgende Personengruppen können einen WRDS-Account beantragen:

Bitte füllen Sie das entsprechende Anmeldeformular digital aus, unterzeichnen Sie es (bei studentischen Accounts ist zusätzlich unbedingt die Unterschrift der betreuenden Person notwendig) und senden Sie es an schoen(at)wiso.uni-koeln(dot)de
Im Anschluss daran können Sie wie unten beschrieben einen persönlichen Account bei WRDS anlegen.
2. Persönliche Registrierung auf der WRDS-Plattform
a. Öffnen Sie im Webbrowser: https://wrds-www.wharton.upenn.edu/register/
b. Füllen Sie das Online-Formular aus und wählen Sie bei Subscriber „University of Cologne“ und bei User Type Ihren passenden Account-Typ
c. Nach der Registrierung wird eine E-Mail an die WRDS Administratoren geschickt, die dann die Zugehörigkeit zur WiSo-Fakultät überprüfen.
d. Nach der Zustimmung der WRDS Administratoren wird Ihr persönlicher WRDS-Account erstellt und Sie erhalten eine Bestätigungsemail mit den Informationen zum weiteren Vorgehen.
3. Wichtiger Hinweis
Wenn Sie bereits einen WRDS-Account haben – aktiv oder seit kurzem inaktiv –, beantragen Sie keinen weiteren WRDS-Account. Nutzen Sie das Account-Transfer-Formular zum automatischen Überführen des Accounts oder kontaktieren Sie den WRDS Support.

The Global Industry Classification Standard is a four-level classification system for different industries developed by Standard & Poor's and MSCI for the financial world. The four levels are:

The classification system includes the following sectors:

Issues with the Datastream Excel Add-in on Mac: Alternative access via LSEG Web Access is recommended.
- Search for Datastream Chart Studio or DSCHART in the main search field.
- Hover the mouse pointer over the arrow next to the name of any data series.
- In the popup menu, select the option “Find New Series” to access the Datastream Navigator.
- In the Datastream Navigator, enter search terms or start browsing data categories.
Issues with Datastream Excel Add-in when using a VPN client:
- When using a VPN client, error messages may occur when retrieving data via the Datastream Excel Add-in
- In this case, deactivate the VPN client

Database description
MarketLine Advantage is a database that supports international market, industry and company research. The data is organised into the following categories:
