Dear students,

we would like to invite you to visit the online lecture by Dr. Joann Halpern on June 23rd 2020 at 6:00 pm as part of the Career Tuesday!

Some of the world’s leading companies, Apple, Samsung, SAP, and Ikea have adopted the Design Thinking approach. Yet Design Thinking is not limited to corporations. Many universities, hospitals, governments, startups, museums, libraries, and schools integrate Design Thinking into their work. What is Design Thinking? Why is it being adopted by so many institutions? What is the relationship between Design Thinking and innovation? How can you integrate Design Thinking into your daily life? These are just a few of the questions our speaker, Dr. Joann Halpern will address. She will also provide examples of Design Thinking in action in order to help you understand the process as well its innovative potential.“

Secondary STAP selection round cancelled

The secondary STAP selection round (for a term abroad in spring 2021) was originally scheduled to open for applications on June 1st, 2020. However, in light of recent global developments, this selection round has been cancelled as the uncertain situation regarding Covid-19 also affects our host schools’ possibilities to make commitments.

We are planning to carry out our main STAP selection round as usual in October 2020. All students interested in a term abroad in 2021/22 should check the STAP Bachelor and STAP Master Websites regularly for updated information.

Changes in the master application process

The Faculty of Managament, Economics and Social Siences of the Univeristy of Cologne will make again further, subsequent changes in the master application process due to the coronavirus:

  1. Deadline
  2. Transfer bachelor/master: Applies only to students of the University of Cologne who are unable to complete their bachelor's degree due to the postponement of the date of the last exam!

Please read the details of these changes on our website. There you will find a summary of all currently valid changes.

Diversity Week "You make the difference"

The 6th Diversity Week will take place in June in a new, digital form. The Vice-Rector for Academic Career and Equal Opportunities and the Department of Gender & Diversity Management are organising the Diversity Week "You make the difference" from June 22 to 26. Digital events by various actors at the UoC will be offered on the topic of equal opportunities, because even, or perhaps especially in times of crisis, raising awareness and expanding competence in dealing with diversity, difference and equal opportunities are central concerns.

You can find the programme under http://vielfalt.uni-koeln.de/en/news/diversity-week-you-make-the-difference

On 26 May 2020 the anti-discrimination campaign #unboxingdiscrimination was launched at the University of Cologne. The campaign raises awareness for prejudice and exclusion and provides advice and information on discrimination at the UoC.

The campaign is based on personal experiences of stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination by members of the UoC.

Join in, share your experiences and find out more at http://vielfalt.uni-koeln.de/en/anti-discrimination/unboxingdiscrimination/discrimination and on the social media channels of the UoC.
